Insurance Business, Canada's leading industry resource for the Insurance industry, is pleased to present the Insurance Business Awards!

The Insurance Business Awards brings together industry leaders to celebrate excellence in the Insurance industry and is designed to recognize individuals, teams and companies for their outstanding achievements and contributions to the field.

There are 20 organizational and individual categories that have been designed to ensure national recognition of both large and small organizations on their individual merits.

Award of excellence for the outstanding advertising campaign over the last 12 to 18 months directed to brokers. This award recognizes the outstanding individual campaign directed to brokers in terms of its effectiveness, reach and creativity.

 

Criteria

  • Advertising campaign directed to brokers
  • The success of the campaign’s key objectives and strategy, its marketing mix and both the quantitative and qualitative evidence of its success, including all evaluative metrics
  • The judges will also take into account the impact relative to advertising spend
  • Feel free to include broker testimonials

 

Award of excellence to the outstanding broker practice. This award goes to the business in which the total number of registered brokers is fewer than or equal to 10 individuals.

 

Criteria

Total number of licenced brokers within the business is fewer than or equal to 10, nationally. When judging this category - number of policies written during the year, premium volume contributions, customer service, brokerage reputation and client retention - will all be considered.

Award of excellence for the outstanding business development manager of the year. This acknowledgment goes to any individual within the insurance space who is pushing the envelope and demonstrating success in setting and exceeding business development goals.

 

Criteria

  • Standout achievements over the last 12 to 18 months.
  • Demonstrated excellence in client relationship building, understanding clients’ business models and objectives, strong presentation skills in a group or one-on-one, responsiveness to clients’ needs, bringing new ideas to clients, providing strong alternative recommendations to clients, understanding the competitive landscape, and applying marketing prowess in business development and sales

Award of excellence recognizing a company that has won the reputation to be called an employer of choice within the insurance industry.

 

Criteria

  • Committed to building a workplace that recognizes excellence and supports phenomenal careers for all
  • Provides the right relationships, challenging and meaningful opportunities, and flexible work options to help people develop their full potential
  • Demonstrates a commitment to provide a supportive and innovative workplace for their employees
  • Finalists will be asked to provide an overview of their people philosophy, workplace culture, employee testimonials and other relevant reasons explaining they should win this award

Award of excellence presented to the company that stands out by providing top-tier life and health insurance products to consumers and businesses in Canada.

 

Criteria

  • Insurance provider of the year applies to any firm offering life and health insurance, critical illness and/or disability products
  • When judging this category - standout achievements for the year, revenue growth during the year, overall customer service and stakeholder engagement - will be key considerations.

Award of excellence for the MGA who offers superb service to brokers and is consistently proactive in educating brokers on products, while maintaining in-depth knowledge of financial markets and the competitive landscape of all product offerings.

 

Criteria

  • Maintains superior support service by communicating updates pertaining to the products and other offerings it provides
  • Provides value-added ideas and marketing support to assist brokers in growing their businesses and client base

This award acknowledges the brokerage with a proven track record of providing their clients with superior support. Whether it is providing best-in-class assistance or reducing turnaround times, customer support is essential for client satisfaction. This award recognizes the industry player that consistently prioritizes its clients on all fronts.

 

Criteria

  • Open to any brokerage that provides services to clients
  • Finalists will be asked to provide details on how they go the extra mile to provide excellent customer service
  • Criteria for judges include: interpersonal communication strategies, telephone and face-to-face service
  • Demonstrated success in client retention, growth and overall business development

Description

Award for women in the insurance industry whose astounding personal and professional achievements have earned them a place among the industry’s best.

 

Criteria:

  • Judges will review achievements including:
    • Professional accomplishments in the last five years (business initiatives in which the nominee played a critical role, new business brought to the company, innovative ideas, etc.)
    • Leadership of professional associations
    • Other accomplishments (charitable work, accomplishments outside the industry, etc.)

Award of excellence to the outstanding broker practice. This award goes to the business in which the total number of registered brokers is over 10 individuals.

 

Criteria

Total number of licenced brokers within the business is over 10 individuals, nationally. When judging this category - number of policies written during the year, premium volume contributions, customer service, brokerage reputation and client retention - will all be considered.

This award celebrates the outstanding contribution of time, leadership and financial support of a company who set new benchmarks of excellence in the acts of giving and volunteering.

 

Criteria

  • Open to any company within the insurance space
  • Demonstrated outstanding commitment through financial support and through encouragement and motivation of others to take leadership roles toward philanthropy and local, national and/or international community involvement
  • The organization or an individual has developed creative, resourceful and inspired campaigns, initiatives, projects or techniques that have grown and made a meaningful impact on local, national and/or international communities or causes

Award of excellence presented to the company that stands out by providing top-tier property & casualty insurance products to consumers and businesses in Canada.

 

Criteria

  • Insurance provider of the year applies to any firm offering insurance focused on risks that result in loss to property and possessions
  • When judging this category - standout achievements, revenue growth during the year, overall customer service and stakeholder engagement - will be key considerations.

This award of excellence recognizes the standout life and health insurance advisor of the year. This accolade goes to the individual who has best exceled at pushing the envelope with innovation and growth, garnering industry’s attention and the respect of peers. This advisor demonstrates commitment to clients, portrays exemplary customer service skills and manages to build and cement long-term business relationships.

 

Criteria

  • Open to life and health advisors only
  • Criteria for judges include: number of policies written; revenue contributions, client retention and client testimonials.

 

Award of excellence in honour of outstanding achievement by an individual within the Insurance Industry. This award recognizes lifetime achievement or outstanding contribution of an individual to Canadian Insurance industry as a whole.

We accept nominations in this category, with the editorial team at Insurance Business Magazine making final selections based on editorial research and industry feedback.

This award recognizes excellence and stand-out performance within risk management and will be presented to the team or individual that has excelled at protecting the assets of their company or the company they consult for, by identifying exposures that may result in accidents or losses.

 

Criteria

  • Open to any individual risk manager OR any risk management team
  • Demonstrated success in protecting the assets of their company or their clients’ company; actively recommends and implements innovations to minimize costs and losses; provides exemplary service and is a team player
  • Offers creative thinking to the risk management community as a whole

The Digital Innovation Award recognizes a company that has best harnessed technology to enhance the user experience for clients and other relevant industry stakeholders.

 

Criteria

  • Finalists will be invited to provide supporting documentation for a website, mobile, app, video or other relevant solution and its performance implemented anytime in the last 12 to 18 months, including visitor traffic reports and reader engagement/usability over the period
  • Judging Criteria include: overall excellence, depth of content, user friendliness, innovation, and the use of multimedia platforms
  • A good resource for clients and employees - promotes excellence within your organization

Award of excellence to the outstanding broker practice. This award goes to the business in which the total number of registered brokers is over 100 individuals.

 

Criteria

  • Total number of licenced brokers within the business is over 100, nationally.
  • When judging this category - number of policies written during the year, premium volume contributions, customer service, brokerage reputation and client retention - will all be considered.

Award of excellence for the outstanding achievement by a young broker within the insurance space. This accolade goes to the new industry player under 40 who has exceled at pushing the envelope with innovation and growth, garnering industry’s attention and the respect of peers.

 

Criteria

  • Open to a broker who is 40 or under as of September 1, 2016
  • Achievements could include: unique ways of utilizing next-generation technology to build and cement client relationships, distinctive new business development strategies, exceptional customer service skills, innovative branding and marketing strategies to attract new clients and/or creative ways of taking the company to the next level
  • Finalists will be asked to provide supporting evidence of the above, including demonstrated increase in policies written and premium volume contributions over the last three years. Please include a brief overview on market landscape and market size.

This award of excellence recognizes the standout property and casualty insurance broker of the year. This accolade goes to the individual who has best exceled at pushing the envelope with innovation and growth, garnering industry’s attention including the respect of peers. This broker demonstrates commitment to clients, portrays exemplary customer service skills and manages to build and cement long-term business relationships.

 

Criteria

  • Open to properly and casualty brokers only
  • Criteria for judges include: number of policies written; premium volume contributions, client retention and client testimonials.

This award acknowledges insurances companies, offices and independent adjusting firms with a proven track record of providing their clients with superior support. Whether it is providing best-in-class assistance or reducing turnaround times, customer support is essential for client satisfaction. This award recognizes the industry player that has mastered that service and is number one on all fronts.

 

Criteria

  • Open to any insurances companies, offices and independent adjustment firms
  • Finalists will be asked to provide details on how they go the extra mile to provide excellent claims service
  • Criteria for judges include: interpersonal communication strategies, telephone and face-to-face service
  • Demonstrated success in client retention, growth and overall business development

Award of excellence to the outstanding brokerage network/cluster of the year for its commitment to its broker members, clients and support to the insurance industry as a whole.

 

Criteria

  • Demonstrated evidence of value proposition to the member offices
  • Excellence in majority of the following areas: training and education, marketing, commission and profit share, access to more companies and products, claims support, customer service support, access to niche and non-traditional markets, administrative support, recruitment of talent
  • The “personality” of the networks will be considered as well. Good standing with industry peers and clients
