The CMP Canadian Mortgage Awards recognizes and celebrates excellence across the entire spectrum of mortgage brokering. There are 21 organizational and individual categories that have been designed to ensure national recognition of both large and small organizations on their individual merits.

Description

This award will recognize the business, group, office or individual broker who has demonstrated exemplary community service or contributions over a sustained period of time and has gone beyond normal expectations, or who has had a significant impact on their local community through their volunteer or fundraising efforts.

  • Open to any business, group, office or individual broker, who has made a significant contribution to community service during the year.
  • Finalists will be invited to provide supporting documentation for the judges.
  • Judges criteria will include; number of hours spent in volunteering and /or the amount of funds raised through charity work, developing links, partnerships or programs that have enhanced the reputation of the nominated business through engaging the region and communities it serves. Finalists will also be asked to link their community work with their business and explain how one compliments the other.

Description

Award of excellence for the lender underwriter whose expertise and outstanding service to brokers helps ensure their deals are funded quickly and efficiently and guides them in the right direction to improve their funding ratios.

 

Criteria

  • Finalists are required to submit supporting documentation for the judges outlining their customer service approach, challenges, standout achievements and provide references.

Description

Award of excellence for the lender underwriter with three years or less experience in the industry whose expertise and outstanding service to brokers helps ensure their deals are funded quickly and efficiently and guides them in the right direction to improve their funding ratios.

Criteria

  • Must have worked as a Lender Underwriter for less than 3 years’ but more than 1 year however are permitted to have worked in the mortgage industry for more than 3 years, in a different capacity to lender underwriter. For the 2017 awards, this means they began their career as a lender underwriter between December 2013 and January 2016
  • Finalists are required to submit supporting documentation for the judges outlining their customer service approach, challenges, standout achievements and provide references.

Description

Award of excellence for an outstanding new mortgage brokerage company, office or franchise, of any size.

  • Open to any new mortgage brokerage company, office or franchise of any size.
  • All nominees should have been established more than 1 year ago but less than 3 years. For the 2016 awards, this means they began trading between December 2012 and January 2015
  • CFinalists are required to submit supporting documentation for the judges.
  • Judges criteria includes: business conversations rates, repeat and referral business strategy and success, growth strategy, advertising, training, loan volume, quality.

Description

This award goes to the brokerage (regardless of size) that has been most success in expanding its business model beyond mortgage originations, to incorporate services such as insurance, syndicate mortgage referrals, real estate sales, financial planning, etc, and in the process has created synergies for the operation as a whole. The category will consider nominations from brokerages that have implemented such plans, effectively broadening existing revenue streams and leveraging the success of an existing book of mortgage clients.

Judges will consider submitted collateral explaining the business model, brokerage strategy, revenue growth 2015 post-diversification, client testimonials, etc.

Description

Award of excellence for an outstanding employer in any facet of the industry. This employer will understand the importance of keeping its employees happy, and will demonstrate its willingness to go above and beyond to do so.

  • Open to employers in any facet of the industry.
  • Finalists will be invited to provide supporting documentation.
  • Judges criteria will include; recruitment and retention strategy, staff turnover rates, communication and feedback policies, incentives, talent management and succession planning, training and career development, team-building successes, core values, company culture, work life balance

Description

Award of excellence in honour of outstanding achievement by an individual within the mortgage broker industry. This award recognizes lifetime achievement or outstanding contribution to the Canadian mortgage industry as a whole. We accept nominations in this category, however these are not reviewed by the judging panel, rather CMP Magazine representatives will conduct extensive face to face and telephone research within the industry to determine the most deserving recipient of this award.

Award of excellence to the outstanding mortgage team, where the total number of staff or full-time equivalents is more than or equal to 25, nationally.

Criteria

  • “Brokerage” delineates any group of mortgage professionals operating under one name.
  • Total number of staff or full time equivalents is more than or equal to 25, nationally. This figure includes all loan writers and support staff.
  • Finalists are required to submit supporting documentation for the judges.
  • When judging this category, standout achievement of the year, growth, amount of business written during the year, overall customer service and stakeholder engagement will be key consideration

Description

Award of excellence to the outstanding national broker network of the year for its commitment to the brokers, agents and support staff in its network and to the mortgage industry as a whole.

  • Submission criteria includes; Recruitment and retention strategies and rates, outlining the value proposition for their members, the value their members bring to the end client and their business’ contribution to the industry as a whole over the previous year, broker : funded volume ratio, gross revenue and testimonials.

Award of excellence to the outstanding mortgage broker or agent from a company or office where the total number of staff or full-time equivalents is more than 25, nationally.

Criteria

Total number of staff or full-time equivalents within office is more than 25, nationally. This figure includes all loan writers and support staff. Finalists are required to submit supporting documentation for the judges. When judging this category, loan volume, quality of submissions, conversion rates, overall customer service & stakeholder engagement will be key considerations

Award of excellence for an outstanding newcomer agent / broker within the Canadian Mortgage industry.

Criteria

  • Individual must have less than 3 years’ but more than 1 year of experience in the mortgage industry overall. For the 2017 awards, this means they began their career between December 2013 and January 2016
  • Judges Criteria Includes: the amount of business written during the year, conversion rates, repeat and referral business as well as testimonials from clients and peers and the greatest level of success in their first 3 years in the industry.

Description

Mobile technology is an important medium for communication, and this category recognizes brokers / brokerages / networks who have harnessed mobile technology to provide consumers with practical, effective and easily accessible tools to understand and prepare for the mortgage process, or to provide brokers with up to the minute information with which to better serve their customers.

This Award is open to individual brokers as well as brokerages and networks and Finalists will be judged on the following: Platform reach: Android, Apple (ios), Blackberry, Windows; # of downloads; Reviews and Ratings on the respective AppStores; Features, including: Use of push notification; Location aware content; Variety of calculations available (e.g. mortgage insurance calc, payment calc, closing cost calc etc); Mortgage Comparisons; Real time Rates

Finalists will be invited to provide supporting documentation for submission, including download statistics, marketing strategy and key objectives behind their app, design, functionality, features & quality of content.

Criteria for judges includes: Overall excellence, Navigation, Content richness, Breadth, User friendliness, Reliability, Innovation

This award acknowledges the contributions of a company or individual with a proven track record of providing brokers with the superior service and assistance needed to satisfy client needs within the mortgage industry.

  • Open to any company or individual that provides a service to the mortgage industry (e.g. insurance, back office, coaching, training, marketing, printing etc)
  • Finalists will be invited to submit supporting documentation and testimonials will also be considered.
  • Judges criteria includes; an explanation of the service their business provides to the mortgage industry, how their business adds value to their client, demonstration of a sustained effort and commitment to the broker channel, repeat and referral business strategy and success.

Description

  • Judges Criteria includes: high-efficiency and funded volumes and a proven track record of originating alternative and / or private deals.
  • A blemish-free complaints record with provincial regulators is also a must.

Award of excellence for the lender business development manager (BDM) who offers superb service to brokers, ensuring deals are funded quickly and efficiently, as well as being proactive in educating brokers on products and lender requirements.

Criteria

Finalists are required to submit supporting documentation for the judges. When judging this category, the BDMs ability to build & manage relationships, understanding their broker business, the value they add to the brand they represent & the broker channel will be key considerations.

Description

Award of excellence for outstanding customer service by an individual mortgage office. Customer service is an important measure of any brokerage's long-term success.

  • Finalists will be asked to submit supporting information, which includes further details about the extra mile they go to give customers outstanding service.
  • Judges Criteria Will Include: Product knowledge, product offerings, telephone and face-to-face service will also be taken into consideration, along with testimonials, community or professional commendations.

This award of excellence recognizes a standout broker specializing in commercial mortgages, having developed a stewardship and aggregating track record that results in high funding ratios and efficiencies.

 

Criteria

  • Judges Criteria Includes: submission; loan volume, conversion rates and residential-to-commercial origination ratios.
  • Finalists will also be asked to provide references from managers, lenders and, if possible, clients, for the consideration of judges.

Description

A new award for 2015, Best Marketing Effort of the Year merges the Branding & Advertising categories. Award of excellence for the overall marketing campaign over the previous year, by broker networks, lenders or suppliers and aimed at either brokers or consumers.

This award recognizes the company with the powerful marketing message to convey to its target customers and the effective reinforcement of that in all branding and advertising initiatives throughout the year and not just a single campaign.

  • Open only to brokerages.
  • Finalists will be invited to provide supporting documentation, including branding strategy and evidence of results where possible.
  • Nominations should be based on all branding, marketing and advertising initiatives throughout the year and not a single campaign.
  • Criteria for judges include: The key objectives and strategy of your marketing message, what are your brand objectives (what do you want as a result of your marketing efforts) and how is your brand presence communicated (print, web, logo etc). The marketing mix applied & quantitative & qualitative evidence of cut through & campaign results when possible. The judges will also take into account the budget available to the Finalist in creating and implementing their marketing campaign.
